Stonebreaker Fine Art Gallery, ERTE Sculpture Sale

LA SOLEILERTE Bronze Sculpture

Private Collector Sale

The Director of the Stonebreaker Fine Art Gallery, Bill Stonebreaker, is very pleased to announce the sale of one of the worlds largest private collections of ERTE bronze sculpture.

Currently owned by a private collector in San Francisco, the collection consists of twelve exquisite sculptures with full documentaton and detailed provenance.

Erte’ ( November 23, 1892 – April 21, 1990) born to an Admiral in the Imperial Fleet, in St. Petersburg, Russia, was raised in a cultured and aristocratic family. His Father owned Persian miniatures from which Erte’ found great inspiration and fascination, early in his childhood. First named, Romain de Tirtoff, he took the title Erte’ after his move to Paris at the age of 19. This from the French pronunciation of his initials, R and T.

Harper’s Bazaar hired him in 1915, where he created over 240 covers for the magazine. He quickly became one of the most widely recognized artists of the 1920s. In 1967 the Metropolitan Museum of Art purchased and exhibited a collection of some 200 Erte gouaches. Today, his work is in many museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

At the age of 75, Erté began to recreate the incredible designs of his youth in bronze and serigraphy. He is known today as the “Father of Art Deco”. His designs and stage sets for the Folies-Bergère in Paris and George White’s Scandals in New York propelled him to great popularity in the world.

Many artists have painted and sculpted the human figure. Erté captures the grace, lines, beauty, form, and mystery like no other before him, in stunning bronze sculpture. View these rare sculptures up close and observe the detail and intricate work of this great Master.

Now is the time to invest in these unique, rare, and spectacular sculptures. The owner has lowered prices and is motivated.

Here are the twelve ERTE bronze sculptures.
